2026 benefit year · compiled from the scheme’s published documents

Fedhealth dental benefits, in plain language

Fedhealth takes the savings-first route to routine dental. On flexiFED 1 to 4, check-ups and basic dentistry are paid from your savings, and once your day-to-day claims reach the threshold, the Threshold benefit takes over. flexiFED 2 spells out two consultations per person a year, each including X-rays and a scale and polish, plus fillings, extractions and root canal. flexiFED 1, 3 and 4 (and their Elect and GRID variants) cover preventative and basic dentistry too — X-rays, cleans, fillings, root canals, extractions and dentures — but the number of covered consultations differs by option, so check your option's brochure.

Advanced work — inlays, crowns, bridges, metal frames, oral surgery, orthodontics, periodontics and prosthodontics — sits under its own annual limit of R8,270 per person, up to R24,700 per family. And because savings pay first, there's a stretch between an empty savings account and reaching the threshold where day-to-day claims, dental included, are your own.

At the ends of the range: flexiFED Savvy covers basic dentistry within its day-to-day structure, but its 2026 detail should be confirmed in the Savvy brochure. myFED has no routine check-up benefit — its dental cover is limited to listed procedures such as extractions, suturing of traumatic wounds and plastic dentures, through contracted network dentists only.

How it works at our practice

We claim directly from medical aids. Before treatment we do a benefit check with your scheme — bring your card and your option name — so you know what your plan pays before you sit in the chair. You pay only co-payments and anything your plan doesn’t cover or has already used up. And as always: we quote before we treat.

Option by option

As published for the 2026 benefit year (checked 2026-07-29). Benefits are re-registered every year and can change — the benefit check is what makes it certain for you.

Worth knowing before you book

  • myFED offers no routine check-ups — only listed procedures at contracted network dentists, so non-network visits or unlisted treatment are entirely your own cost.
  • On flexiFED 1 to 4 there is a self-payment gap between empty savings and the threshold — dental claims in that stretch come out of your pocket.
  • On flexiFED 1 to 4, all advanced dentistry — crowns, bridges, orthodontics, oral surgery and more — shares one annual limit of R8,270 per person / R24,700 per family.
  • flexiFED Savvy's dental specifics and the consultation counts on flexiFED 1, 3 and 4 come from each option's 2026 brochure — confirm them there before counting on a benefit.
