What happens in the chair
We go through your quote item by item, in plain language. Dental paperwork is written in codes, and codes are only readable if you work with them every day — so we translate: what each item actually is, what it does, and why a dentist might have proposed it.
We’ll also examine your mouth, because a quote only makes sense next to the teeth it was written for. Then we sort the plan with you into what’s urgent, what can wait, and what’s optional — and give you the questions worth asking before any treatment, anywhere.

About the dentist who quoted you

Honest dentists can reach different plans for the same mouth: different materials, different sequencing, different judgement calls on which teeth to save. Our job is to explain those differences so you can weigh them — the choice of who treats you stays entirely yours.

Yes — bring any written quote or treatment plan, from any practice, and we’ll go through it with you item by item in plain language. No referral needed, and you don’t have to tell your dentist you’re coming.
What should I bring to a second opinion visit?
The written quote or treatment plan itself, plus any X-rays or reports you were given — and your medical aid card if you have one. Missing paperwork isn’t a problem: we can examine your mouth and still explain your options.
Will you tell me if I don’t need the treatment I was quoted for?
We’ll tell you honestly what we find in your mouth and how urgent each item looks to us — including where we’d take a different route. What we won’t do is rubbish the other dentist: honest clinicians can reach different plans for the same mouth.
Is it rude to ask for a second opinion?
Not at all — it’s normal, sensible practice before major dental work, and good dentists expect it. Understanding a big treatment plan before you commit to it is your right as a patient, not an insult to anyone.
How much does a second opinion at the dentist cost?

Do I have to have my treatment done at your practice afterwards?
