Genesis Medical Scheme dental benefits, in plain language
The Genesis options — Private Choice and Absolute — are hospital-focused plans, and routine dentistry is generally not an insured day-to-day benefit. In plain terms: on these options, your check-ups, cleans and fillings are usually paid from your own pocket, not by the scheme.
That doesn't mean the scheme disappears when your teeth need attention. Like every registered medical scheme in South Africa, Genesis must fund emergency dental care that qualifies as a Prescribed Minimum Benefit — think severe sepsis, trauma to the mouth, or oral cancers — and that applies on every option.
One honest note: our Genesis information has not yet been verified against a current scheme document, so treat this page as a starting point rather than the final word. Before you plan any treatment, confirm the current dental rules directly with the scheme — and if anything here doesn't match what they tell you, their document wins.
Toothache right now? We keep same-day slots — and we answer.
Call nowHow it works at our practice
We claim directly from medical aids. Before treatment we do a benefit check with your scheme — bring your card and your option name — so you know what your plan pays before you sit in the chair. You pay only co-payments and anything your plan doesn’t cover or has already used up. And as always: we quote before we treat.
Option by option

Worth knowing before you book
- Neither Private Choice nor Absolute lists a routine dental benefit, so budget to pay for everyday dentistry yourself unless the scheme confirms otherwise.
- Our data for Genesis is unverified — always confirm the current rules with the scheme before starting treatment.
- The PMB safety net covers emergencies such as severe sepsis, trauma and oral cancers — it is not a route to funded check-ups or fillings.
