2026 benefit year · compiled from the scheme’s published documents
Medshield dental benefits, in plain language
Medshield's 2026 dental benefit tables are published by DENIS, and the shape of your cover depends on which of three designs your option uses. MediCurve (the entry option) and MediPhila insure essential dentistry but only through network dental providers — see a dentist outside that network and the account is yours. MediSaver takes the savings route: conservative dentistry is paid from your Personal Savings Account, so cover lasts exactly as long as the balance does.
The rest of the range funds dentistry from insured day-to-day benefits. MediValue and MediPlus — each sold in a Prime and a Compact version — cover conservative dentistry within a day-to-day limit; Prime lets you choose your own provider, while Compact works through a network — with care coordination on MediValue Compact. MediBonus and PremiumPlus carry substantial day-to-day allowances, with specialised dentistry paid from a defined limit.
MediCore is the outlier: it is a hospital-focused option and routine dentistry is not among its headline benefits, so check with the scheme before assuming any day-to-day dental cover there. The exact 2026 rand amounts for every option sit in the DENIS Medshield 2026 benefit tables — worth confirming before you commit to major treatment.

Call nowHow it works at our practice
We claim directly from medical aids. Before treatment we do a benefit check with your scheme — bring your card and your option name — so you know what your plan pays before you sit in the chair. You pay only co-payments and anything your plan doesn’t cover or has already used up. And as always: we quote before we treat.

Worth knowing before you book
- On MediCurve and MediPhila, dental cover works only at network providers — an out-of-network visit is entirely your own cost.
- MediCore is a hospital-focused option with no headline routine dental benefit — confirm with Medshield before assuming you are covered for check-ups.
- MediSaver's dental cover stops when your Personal Savings Account runs out; from that point you pay the dentist directly.
- Even on options with generous limits, Medshield pays at its own scheme tariff — charges above that rate are for your account unless your dentist has a payment arrangement with your scheme.
