Momentum Medical Scheme dental benefits, in plain language
Momentum's options differ less in what dentistry they cover than in whose money pays for it. On Custom, routine dental comes out of the day-to-day funding you chose — a HealthSaver+ account or provider-paid day-to-day — and on Incentive it is paid from your Medical Savings. Extender also starts with savings, then runs through a self-payment gap before Extended Cover picks up day-to-day claims again, with dental sub-limits applying. On all three, once your own pot is empty — or you are in that gap — you pay the dentist yourself.
Summit is the exception: day-to-day claims, dentistry included, are paid from scheme risk, subject to sub-limits. Ingwe is different again — basic dentistry is an insured benefit, but only through the Ingwe network (the Ingwe Primary Care or Ingwe Active Dental Network, or State facilities if you chose Ingwe Connect), and there is no advanced dentistry. Evolve has limited routine cover: day-to-day is limited, most routine dentistry is self-funded or paid via HealthSaver+, and its Health Platform preventative benefits only work once you have activated them.
Momentum's exact 2026 dental sub-limits were not spelled out in the documents behind this page, so confirm the figures in the 2026 brochure before planning bigger treatment.

Call nowHow it works at our practice
We claim directly from medical aids. Before treatment we do a benefit check with your scheme — bring your card and your option name — so you know what your plan pays before you sit in the chair. You pay only co-payments and anything your plan doesn’t cover or has already used up. And as always: we quote before we treat.
Option by option

Worth knowing before you book
- Ingwe pays for dentistry only at Ingwe network providers — a visit outside the network is entirely your own cost.
- On Evolve, the Health Platform preventative benefits must be activated before they pay anything, and most routine dentistry is self-funded.
- Extender has a self-payment gap between your savings running out and Extended Cover starting — dental visits in that gap are out of your pocket.
- Momentum pays claims at its own scheme rate (MMSR); if a dentist charges above that rate, the difference is yours even where a benefit applies — unless your dentist has a payment arrangement with your scheme.
