2026 benefit year · compiled from the scheme’s published documents

Profmed dental benefits, in plain language

Profmed is a restricted scheme for postgraduate professionals, and its dental cover is consistent in one reassuring way: every 2026 option — ProPinnacle, ProSecure and ProSecure Plus, ProActive and ProActive Plus, ProSelect and ProEssential — includes day-to-day dentistry as an insured benefit.

What changes between options is depth, not direction. Each option attaches its own limits to that dentistry, set out in the 2026 option schedules, and specialised dentistry is carried on the higher options rather than across the whole range.

One honest note: the shape of this cover is confirmed from Profmed's 2026 materials, but the per-option figures aren't — so before you plan treatment, check your own option schedule for the current limits. And remember that major dental work — dentures, crowns, implants, orthodontics — almost universally needs pre-authorisation, whatever scheme you're on.

Toothache right now? We keep same-day slots — and we answer.

How it works at our practice

We claim directly from medical aids. Before treatment we do a benefit check with your scheme — bring your card and your option name — so you know what your plan pays before you sit in the chair. You pay only co-payments and anything your plan doesn’t cover or has already used up. And as always: we quote before we treat.

Option by option

As published for the 2026 benefit year (checked 2026-07-29). Benefits are re-registered every year and can change — the benefit check is what makes it certain for you.

Worth knowing before you book

  • Per-option rand limits weren't verifiable in the 2026 sources reviewed — confirm your option schedule before committing to treatment.
  • Specialised dentistry sits on the higher options only, so check whether your option includes it before booking major work.
  • Dentures, crowns, implants, orthodontics, periodontics and hospital dentistry almost always require pre-authorisation — unauthorised treatment is typically not paid.

Tell us your option — we’ll check your benefits before you visit.
